Last fall, Diana Park took her daughter to the mall for back-to-school shopping, and they stopped in a lingerie store. And there, they had a little difference of opinion about budgeting: “She presented me with a handful of bras she wanted — but when I looked at the price tag of the three bras she handed me, they were over $70 each. That would be over $200 for bras! I held them up and searched for diamonds or gold or something but alas, they were simply very skimpy bras that I could probably roll up and fit in her iPod case. Seriously, kid?”

She said no way — and she’s pretty sure it ended up being a valuable lesson. Read to find out why.

I had a complicated emotional reaction to the report because it contained something I found fairly shocking: the suggestion that children over the age of 12 may be safely prescribed weight loss drugs,” writes Lauren Gordon. And so in her latest piece, she’s doing a little processing — about the new recs and about her own childhood experiences. Check it out.
