The war against women’s rights is intensifying, so I’ll be brief. I need your emergency help on behalf of our National Clinic Access Project and targeted clinics in both red and blue states.
Instead of celebrating the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, advocates for abortion rights are now fighting a two-front war.
On the political front, advocates are taking on state legislatures’ draconian abortion bans and fighting in state elections to protect abortion rights at the ballot box. We are slowly but surely winning in many states, with voters defeating anti-abortion ballot measures and approving state constitutional initiatives to guarantee reproductive freedom.
But as important as these political fights are, there is another battle front that we cannot ignore. Day in and day out, anti-abortion extremists use intimidation, harassment, and violence to target abortion clinics, healthcare workers, and support staff. We need your help.
Protect Abortion Clinics: Give Now
The violence is real. The numbers tell a frightening story.
There have been at least 12 murders, 25 attempted murders, 620 stalking incidents, 42 bombings, 189 arsons, and 100 attempted bombings of abortion providers over the years since Roe was decided in 1973. We believe, based on our national surveys of anti-abortion clinic violence, that the numbers are much larger.
John, your gift to the National Clinic Access Project now will make a difference.
With the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe, the anti-abortion extremists are emboldened. The Feminist Majority Foundation’s National Clinic Access Project is receiving calls for help from independant clinics in many states, including California, Illinois, Kansas, Wyoming, South and North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arizona, Michigan, and Florida.
With your financial support, we can recruit and coordinate with attorneys who provide pro-bono legal assistance to clinics facing some of the most severe harassment. We train legal observers and clinic escorts who help clinic healthcare workers and patients, who are often forced to walk an abusive gauntlet in order to enter the clinic. We also provide security equipment, but most importantly, we brief and encourage law enforcement to increase protection around clinics.
We can’t let the extremists gain with violence what they can’t win at the ballot box.
For Reproductive Freedom,
