Seeking asylum is a right enshrined in U.S. and international law. Yet, for nearly three years, presidents of both political parties have used the false pretext of public health to essentially cut off access to seek asylum at the border in the United States under Title 42.

As Republicans continue to block any chance of Congressional action to improve our outdated and broken immigration system, we need the Biden administration to lead boldly, not embrace right-wing talking points and double down on failed so-called deterrence practices, like Title 42.
