2023 Policy Recommendations

The George W. Bush Institute, a nonpartisan institution, is committed to fostering positive, meaningful, and lasting change at home and abroad rooted in the principles of freedom, opportunity, accountability, and compassion.
The 118th Congress convened this month during a time of turmoil and tumult both in our Nation and the world. Our lawmakers are tackling critical challenges on a range of issues, and we’ve outlined a series of briefs to help guide their way forward. These briefs focus on ensuring opportunities for all Americans, strengthening our democracy, and advancing free societies.
The recommendations offered here include insight on issues from fixing our broken immigration system, combatting kleptocracy and disinformation, helping put our students on the path to future success to improving military recruitment, smoothing the transition to civilian life for our veterans, and supporting democracy, opportunity, health, and development around the world, particularly in places like Ukraine, Afghanistan, and sub-Saharan Africa.
We hope these ideas will help guide our Nation and world to a better, brighter future.

Sincerely,
David J. Kramer
Executive Director of the Bush Institute
