While Republican infighting delayed the start of the new session of Congress, now that it’s finally underway, Sharice is excited to continue delivering for Kansas families.
In the last session of Congress, Sharice led on major issues — from fighting against climate change and improving local supply chains to lowering healthcare costs and protecting marriage equality — and worked with members of both parties to achieve results for Kansans.
As we turn the page to the next session of Congress, we’re revisiting that progress to aid our strategy. Check out a few of the highlights of Sharice’s accomplishments in the last session of Congress below!
Sharice received a 2022 Congressional Management Foundation ‘Transparency and Accountability’ award which recognized her office’s outstanding efforts to stay connected with constituents in KS-03.
Sharice helped pass the American Rescue Plan, bringing much-needed emergency funds to KS-03 including over $46 million for local restaurants and a tax cut for 621,000+ Kansas families through the Child Tax Credit. As the only member of Congress from Kansas to vote for the American Rescue Plan, Sharice brought home over $2.5 billion in state and local relief, over 1.8 million stimulus checks for Kansans, and over $860 million to help keep public schools open.
Sharice voted to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which delivered billions of dollars to Kansas to improve highways, bridges, public transportation, and airports. Sharice was the only member of Congress from Kansas who voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which also delivered funds to expand internet access and ensure clean drinking water for every Kansan.
Sharice voted to enact the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first major gun reform legislation in decades. This law protects children and families, makes schools safer, and addresses the gun violence epidemic in our country.
Sharice voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which will lower health care costs, invest in the fight against climate change, create jobs, and reduce the national debt. The law also permits Medicare to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices and caps the price of insulin at $35 per month for seniors on Medicare.
Sharice co-sponsored the bipartisan Respect for Marriage Act, which enacted protections for same-sex and interracial marriage, as well as bipartisan legislation to deliver health benefits for veterans exposed to toxic burn pits.
Sharice served as a key negotiator for the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act, which significantly improved critical supply chains and boosted domestic manufacturing, so we can make more in America.
These are just the highlights of Sharice’s accomplishments in the last Congress. In this new session of Congress, Sharice will continue working to deliver results for Kansans.
