Dear John,
I’m excited to announce that today, 50CAN welcomes the second cohort of our National Voices Fellowship - a program that seeks to take emerging education leaders and elevate their impressive voices to a national audience.
I started the fellowship in 2018, along with my colleague Ned Stanley, because of a belief that the bipartisan coalition we’ve formed over the past thirty years - one dedicated to advancing the needs of children to attend an excellent school over the priorities of adults benefiting from a lack of change - is, much like our country, divided and at risk.
With a rapidly changing political landscape and more entrenched partisanship, there is a need for a new generation of education messengers who have access to the kinds of networks and mentorship that both Ned and myself have benefited from.
Our second cohort is made up of eight incredible fellows who are dedicating a year to building their skills and raising their profiles in the national conversation about our country’s schools. Fellows are trained in education advocacy, media and groundbreaking communications, navigating current political trends, and education policy.
