So in 2023, our Washington legislators must prioritize the health and safety of Washingtonians and ensure we advance true climate solutions that reduce climate pollution and prioritize frontline communities. Tell your legislators they must invest in climate action in the state budget. Washington's transformative 2021 Climate Commitment Act went into effect on January 1st, 2023 and we expect this cap-and-invest program to generate billions by making polluters pay for climate, clean energy, and community investments. The Legislature must invest these dollars wisely--making sure the funds cut pollution faster, invest in communities that need it the most and can afford it the least, and accelerate equitable solutions across our economy and state. Specifically, your legislators must invest in: - Reducing health disparities in communities overburdened by the impacts of poor air quality and climate change Our lawmakers should understand that climate is still a top priority issue and that you are counting on them to invest in climate action that protects people and nature as one. Thank you for taking action, |
