Postmaster Louis DeJoy poses a serious threat to the United States Postal Service.
John,
Postmaster General Louis DeJoy poses a serious threat to the United States Postal Service.
Not only did he have egregious financial conflicts, but the Trump-era appointee also pioneered policy changes at the agency to slow transportation and delivery of mail just months before the 2020 election. He also adopted policies to reduce mail sorting machines and restrict the ability of workers to make late and extra trips to deliver the mail on time.
His actions not only constituted an abuse of power to pursue his personal and political interests, but they also likely violated federal law.
Folks don’t just rely on USPS to mail their ballots for elections. They also rely on USPS for life saving medication, food, and more. We trust them with secure transportation of valued items.
The USPS has been operating since 1775, and is one of our oldest institutions.
The Board of Governors should be committed to preserving the integrity of a vital democratic institution. If Louis DeJoy remains in charge of the USPS, conflicts of interest and corruption will continue to erode the integrity of USPS and cause damage to our democracy.
