Dear john,
This past Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, I announced my co-sponsorship of House Resolution 30 to recognize Dr. King’s 94th birthday. The resolution will also recognize the 40th anniversary of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday.
Dr. King was a steward of education, a man of faith, and a civil rights pioneer. I co-sponsored House Resolution 30 to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy and honor his vision of a more free, more equal, and more just American society.

I was sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives to represent the 28th Congressional District of Texas in the 118th Congress at Laredo City Hall. I am grateful and honored that the people of my district have once again chosen me to be their voice in Congress. I will return to Washington as a Senior Member of the House Appropriations Committee and continue fighting to improve education, expand access to affordable health care, secure our communities and border, and create more well-paying jobs across Texas-28. Thank you to my family, my supporters, and all the public officials who attended; we had people from all 9 counties. I am blessed to represent you in Congress.

I met with the Governor of Tamaulipas, Dr. Américo Villarreal, and a delegation of both, U.S. and Mexican, authorities to discuss the World Trade Bridge expansion project. The World Trade Bridge is transmitted by over 2,700,000 commercial trucks every year. This expansion project will expedite crossing times and prevent traffic jams that cause delays and have a direct impact on consumers. I want to thank Governor Américo Villarreal, CBP Port of Laredo Director Albert Flores, Texas State Representative Richard Raymond, Mayor of Laredo Dr. Victor Treviño, Mayor of Nuevo Laredo Carmen Lilia Canturosas, the private sector, and all trucking and custom broker associations for coming together and prioritizing this project that will ensure that our region remains amongst the most competitive in the world in international trade.
