A new "Don't Say Gay" bill, anti-choice debates...
John,
In 2019, pro-equality candidates took back the Virginia House of Delegates. They ratified the Equal Rights Amendment, made sexual orientation and gender identity protected classes to combat discrimination in housing and workplaces, and expanded hate crimes legislation to protect LGBTQ people. They banned conversion therapy -the first state in the U.S. South to do it - and passed legislation benefiting trans kids in schools. They did a lot of great work!
Right now, anti-equality forces hold the Virginia House, and they're trying to undo the pro-choice and pro-equality legislation that our elected officials passed. Bigoted lawmaker Tara Durant even introduced Virginia's version of the "Don't Say Gay" bill. The House is even debating anti-choice restrictions!
