Coalitions Member,
We are three weeks into the new year and our Coalitions program is already in full swing with a number of exciting updates we wanted to share with you! In 2022, across all of our Caucuses efforts,180,000 calls and texts were made to Democratic voters and potential voters. We are deeply motivated by the dedication of those of you involved with one (or more!) of our Caucuses and are looking forward to the year ahead and all that we’ll be able to accomplish.
Our LGBTQ+ Caucus has already held the first Coalitions event of the year, with over 200 people signed up and 115 joining, to discuss their many successes of the last year and the ways we can continue to mobilize New Jersey voters around issues that affect our LGBTQ+ community.

We are also so excited to be introducing two brand new Caucuses for the new year focusing on advocating for the Jewish and Hindu communities of New Jersey. Learn more about the newly appointed Chairs who will be leading their efforts below! |
Justin Goldsman, a political operative and organizer who has long been committed to his town of West Orange and the state of NJ, has been appointed Chair of the Jewish Caucus. He will work to uplift and support Democratic and Jewish values, from fighting antisemitism and white supremacy, to protecting reproductive freedom, to expanding voting rights and democracy. In 2021, he was named a top political operative of the year. He has worked on numerous races at all levels of government, from local council races to serving as the Senior Organizer for Coalitions and Outreach on Governor Murphy’s 2021 re-election campaign. Justin is a member of the West Orange Democratic Committee and involved with numerous organizations and causes.
“The NJDSC Jewish caucus is excited to be reigniting our efforts on behalf of NJ Jewish Democrats! Whether it is protecting our democracy and voting rights, the fights for reproductive justice, combating antisemitism and white supremacy and hate, or electing candidates who epitomize our core beliefs, we are committed to elevating our values and the values of the Democratic Party. We are excited to grow the caucus across the state and across the broad and diverse spectrum of the Jewish community, and to collaborate and build together with the other wonderful caucuses in the state!”

Niki Shah has been appointed as the Chair of the Hindu Caucus. As the Chair, Niki will lead efforts to elevate the voice and issues affecting the diverse Hindu American community; mobilize grassroots operations; and identify and empower Hindu American leaders to seek public office. Previously, Niki served on the board of South Asians for Obama in 2008 and South Asians for Biden in 2020. He is also a founding member of Hindus for Biden in 2020 that worked to build coalitions, engage communities, and work on policy matters involving the environment and sustainability, U.S.–India relations, and ensuring Hindu places of worship are protected from vandalism and violence.
“I am humbled and inspired to be appointed as the first-ever Chair of the Hindu Caucus at the New Jersey Democratic State Committee on the birth anniversary of Shri Swami Vivekananda and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi—who have guided mankind on the path of personal transformation and societal upliftment. I look forward to leading the caucus, based on Dharmic values and with integrity, full transparency and accountability to bring forth unheard voices and issues affecting the community. May the work begin with the blessings of our gurus, elders, and Shri Ganesh."
