Hi,

Two years after the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, nearly 1,000
people have been arrested. Almost 200 have been sentenced to jail.^1 Two
right-wing militia leaders — and counting — have been convicted of
seditious conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election.^2

But for the members of Congress who aided and helped plan the
insurrection? Not a damn thing.

Enough is enough. The 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states in no
uncertain terms that anyone who has “engaged in insurrection or rebellion”
against the United States shall be barred from public office.

That means a host of congressional members — Republicans Lauren Boebert,
Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Scott Perry, to name just a few^3,4 — need to
be investigated. And if the evidence confirms that they helped organize
the January 6 insurrection, they must be expelled from public office.
Simple as that.

Multiple media investigations have shown that members of Congress were
extensively involved in organizing January 6.^5 Rep. Scott Perry’s phone
was seized by the FBI as part of their investigation.^6 Rep. Paul Gosar of
Arizona asked for a “blanket pardon” before the attack, indicating that he
knew what they were doing was illegal.^7

And the 14th Amendment’s ban on insurrectionists holding office is plain
as day. In fact, a New Mexico judge last year enforced the insurrection
clause to ban a January 6 rioter and county commissioner from ever holding
office again.^8

But this won’t happen unless the public understands that this isn’t some
fringe idea. That means it’s up to us to educate the public and demand a
thorough investigation of every member of Congress involved in January 6
and expel any wrongdoers they find.
