Dear Friend,
We know that your inbox has been full of emails from our team and many other organizations over the past few weeks, so we'll keep it brief.
Thanks to our donors, MediaJustice has raised over $55,000 since Giving Tuesday to support our 2023 programs. We are so grateful for your contributions and your trust in our team, strategies, and vision.
Here are just a few things our team is up to, fueled by your generosity:
- Facilitating the 2023 cohort of the MediaJustice Network Fellowship, MJ's experiential 8-month political education program. This year's track is focused on racialized disinformation, and our fellows will be announced publicly in just a few days. We are excited for you to get to know them.
- Expanding the e-carceration research landscape and ensuring it reaches the people on the frontlines of dismantling digital prisons. In 2023, our team will publish 15 case studies about the impacts of electronic monitoring on overpoliced communities across the United States.
- Hosting regional train-the-trainer events for organizers, youth, researchers, and journalists to halt the spread of racialized disinformation, with a focus on copaganda and the harmful narratives and violence that it engenders.
- Fighting for community-owned, community-driven ISPs to receive the federal funding allocated for closing the digital divide. Without organizations that bring community voices to the table, the landmark infrastructure bill could end up lining the pockets of Comcast, Verizon, and other traditional ISPs that don't meet the needs of or are accountable to communities.
Thank you again for your support, and if you haven't yet had a chance to donate or share our page with your comrades and friends, please do so here.
With gratitude,
