In an extraordinary exchange for power to become the Speaker of the House, Republican Kevin McCarthy gave into the demands of the most radical, extremist MAGA Republicans.

That includes gutting the Office of Congressional Ethics, and we think there’s one MAGA Republican who is overjoyed with this news — New York Representative George Santos.

In case you haven’t heard of him, Santos is a newly-elected Republican who fabricated almost every aspect of his life story while campaigning for Congress.

That’s not an exaggeration, john: reporting by the New York Times and others show he has lied about his education, his finances, his work history, his ethnicity, and even claimed that his grandparents escaped persecution as Jews fleeing Europe. Thanks to immense public pressure, he admitted to lying on his résumé, calling his own fabrications a “poor choice of words.” We couldn’t agree more.

Of course, instead of holding Santos accountable for his lies, Kevin McCarthy is standing with him, despite the wishes of local GOP leaders in Santos’ home district who are calling for his resignation. This only adds to the chaos that Kevin McCarthy is planning to inflict in the House, and we must call it out.
