John, January is Supporter Appreciation Month at Save the Children. We’re taking a moment to highlight a few stories of children who’ve been deeply impacted by your support this past year.
18-year-old Aleksandr* and his mother fled their home in Ukraine after the conflict escalated in early 2022. When they arrived in Rome, our teams greeted the family and provided them with psychosocial support made possible because of our incredible supporters.
Since arriving in Rome, Aleksandr has been focusing on integrating with the local community. He’s learning the language to help break down barriers and create a home away from home. We also helped him enroll in a local music school, where he passionately plays the piano. Looking ahead to the future, he hopes to return to his homeland, helping to rebuild Ukraine and eventually settle down there permanently.
