Team,
Doris’ work in Congress never stops. As we begin the new Congress, it’s worth
taking a moment to reflect on what she accomplished at the end of last session.
In November, Doris announced that she secured $3 million in federal funding
for Sacramento State to expand digital equity outreach efforts in the
Sacramento area! This federal funding will help Sac State work with regional
partners to provide more families with access to broadband and computers,
increase educational attainment, and grow the local economy.
And, in early December, Doris and Rep. Brett Guthrie’s bipartisan Early
Hearing Detection and Intervention Act of 2022 became law – a groundbreaking
piece of legislation that helps detect and diagnose hearing loss early in
children.
Later in December, it was announced that Doris will be the co-chair of the
Rare Disease Caucus. Doris has been a longtime champion for the rare disease
community, authoring critical legislation that can help fund research and make
healthcare more accessible and affordable for all.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for everything Doris has accomplished, and
she truly ended the 117th session strong! We cannot wait to see all that she
accomplishes in the 118th!
