Where I come from, first impressions matter. And so far, the first impressions we’ve seen from the Republican House majority have been disappointing.
First, their infighting delayed the start of our session by several days – days that could have been spent passing legislation to safeguard reproductive rights, combat climate change, and fix our broken immigration system.
Then, when they finally elected a Speaker, the first bill they voted to pass was one that would take back millions of dollars in IRS funding, making it easier for corporations and the ultra-wealthy to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.
