Governor Kelly Appoints Joann Woltman to Fill Judgeship Position in the 10th Judicial District

*TOPEKA* - Governor Laura Kelly today appointed Joann Woltman of Overland Park to a judgeship position in the 10th Judicial District. The position was created through the retirement of Judge Paul C. Gurney.

“Woltman brings diverse civil experience to the bench,” *Governor Laura Kelly said. *“I know she will use her unique perspective and expertise to serve the 10th Judicial District with enthusiasm, fairness, and integrity.”

Joann Woltman currently serves as CaseSmart Counsel at Littler Mendelson P.C. She is active in the community, serving on an elementary school Parent Teacher Organization, coaching sports, and providing pro bono legal services to community members dealing with a variety of matters.

“I am humbled and honored to serve the people of Johnson County,” *Woltman said.* “I am committed to applying the law fairly and impartially and ensuring the people of Johnson County are treated with dignity and respect.” 

District Court Judges in the 10th Judicial District are appointed by the governor and selected from nominees chosen by a district nominating commission. Judges in nominating commission districts are subject to retention elections every four years.

The other nominees selected by the district nominating commission were Jenifer Ashford and Katherine Sinatra.
