Good morning fellow climate activists,
It is with great pleasure to announce 350 Chicago has hired our first employee!
Today, we are welcoming Ebonee Stevenson to work on the People vs. Fossil Fuels (PvFF)campaign.
350 Chicago received a grant in the fall from the 350 National Council and 11th hour to fund Ebonee’s work on the campaign. The PvFF’s goals are to pressure President Biden to declare a Climate Emergency and use his executive powers to halt new and existing fossil fuel infrastructure projects while accelerating the shift to a clean energy economy.
Ebonee has vast experience as an organizer in the Chicagoland area, working on grassroots campaigns for voting, unions, healthcare, and urban agriculture issues.
Here is Ebonee’s bio in her own words,
Ebonee Stevenson is a frontline veteran community development professional, Master Urban Farmer, community health worker, journalist, and community-based educator. She is a self-professed agriculture nerd with over 15 years of experience focused on community organizing in Black communities.
She has worked with many community-based organizations, unions, and religious and educational institutions. She has worked on affordable housing preservation, youth homelessness, healthcare justice, and workers’ and tenants’ rights. Other issues she has organized around are juvenile detention, violence prevention, education reform, economic justice, and food oppression. She is very passionate about providing her community with true alternatives to violence, incarceration, and the street economy.
In her spare time, she enjoys farming, fermentation, creating vegetarian & vegan meals, experimenting with different kimchi recipes, and binge-watching k-dramas.
We are so gratified to have Ebonee working with us. Please welcome Ebonee to 350 Chicago!
Best regards,
Larry Coble
President, 350 Chicago Board of Directors
