John,

While not remotely surprising, it is still jarring to see elected officials behave like hateful and spiteful high school bullies.

Since Republicans have control of the House, we might as well get used to seeing their nonsense in the news—but we should never accept that the chaos, division, and thinly disguised racism is normal, or acceptable.

Because Lauren Boebert, who barely won reelection by 500 votes in a heavily-Republican district, now feels emboldened and empowered by the GOP's nominal majority, we can expect racist dog-whistles delivered to her far-Right white nationalist followers like this on the regular:
Rep. Jackson Lee's bill was a commonsense adjustment to the list of federal hate crimes to include violence motivated by white supremacy—something that Donald Trump's own FBI Director testified as one of the greatest domestic terror threats facing our country.

Boebert doesn't care. She didn't read it. Her staff didn't read it. Her job, as she sees it, is to pop off on Twitter with hot takes about liberals, Joe Biden, Elon Musk, or whatever other culture war topic is trending with her base.

Boebert is there to spread fury and fake outrage, and to raise money. That's it.
