Dear John,

The application to serve as a BAHIP host agency closes in just a couple of weeks!

Make it your organization’s new year’s resolution to help an intern of color thrive: host an intern, support them in entering our affordable housing industry, and help nurture the next generation of Bay Area affordable housing developers!

Applications for the 2023-2024 program year are open until Friday, January 20, 2023, at 5PM PT. If you have already hosted an intern before, please use this form instead.

Diversifying our field is crucial to our success. It’s how we ensure this work represents every community we serve, strengthens the range of talent driving our progress, and boosts the vision for a more equitable Bay Area from the inside out.

BAHIP: Diversifying Our Field, Nurturing New Leaders

The Bay Area Housing Internship Program (BAHIP) is officially launching its sixth year of impact. Modeled after the highly successful Rural West Internship Program of the California Coalition for Rural Housing (CCRH), the program places college and university students of color from across the Bay Area at leading nonprofit affordable housing developers (that’s you!) – for a one-year, paid internship. Through hands-on experience, mentorship by leaders of color, and monthly cohort trainings, interns gain the hard skills of real estate development and the soft skills of navigating our industry as a person of color, making BAHIP unique among other programs.

Check out the requirements and get more info in our Frequently Asked Questions for Host Agencies.

If you have already hosted an intern before, please use this form instead.

I hope to see you at the info session this Friday!

In solidarity,
