Yesterday, we celebrated Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose life and work to this day represent service of community and spirit. In memory of Dr. King, I’d like to encourage you to get out there and volunteer — not just for one day but as a long-term approach to community and political engagement.

Whether it’s giving blood, picking up trash in your neighborhood, or volunteering for an organization in your own community, I want to encourage you to think of ways you can get out there and serve others. These days we spend so much time reading the news wondering how we can make a difference in such intense times. This is one big way.

Join me in committing to volunteering in your community, not just for one day, but as a practice → [link removed]

For me, serving others is central to why I decided to run for Congress in the first place. Serving my community in Congress has been one of the greatest honors of my life, but you don’t need to be in Congress to make your own impact.

As Dr. King put it:

“Not everybody can be famous but everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service.”

Show your commitment to service by signing the pledge today: [link removed]

Thank you,

Mary Gay
