John,
🚨 This is not a drill! 🚨
MPs are voting to abolish your rights and
protections.
Jacob
Rees Mogg was kicked out of government when Sunak took over, but he
left behind his Retained EU Law Bill. It’s his ideological crusade to
remove any mention of the UK’s membership of the EU from our law
books.
This ‘Bonfire of
Rights Bill’ would, at a stroke, abolish hard won rights and
protections we all take for granted from paid annual leave to food
standards - many of which the UK originally proposed and pushed to be
adopted by the EU!
We
can’t let this happen John, your MP will vote on this on Wednesday.
Use your voice now:
The Government is rushing through
this law which could put more than 4,000 of our rights, regulations
and protections on a bonfire with no plan to replace them. At a time
when the NHS is in crisis, workers are striking because their economic
situation is dire and the government wants to focus on Brexit ideology
instead.
The rights I’m
talking about impact almost every aspect of our lives and
include:
-
Workers rights:
Including paid leave, sick leave and maximum working hours.
-
Environmental protections: Controlling industrial waste, ensuring clean water and
protecting animals
-
Food standards: Ensuring our food is safe to eat
-
Safety regulations:
Ensuring employers cannot put workers in danger and which include
things like the requirement for children to wear seatbelts.
Even worse, if these rights are not
replaced or assimilated by the arbitrary deadline at the end of this
year, they will automatically be abolished without giving Parliament a
say.
This Bill is the brainchild of
Jacob Rees Mogg but Sunak is too weak to scrap it. Nowhere in the
Conservative 2019 Manifesto did it mention the wholesale binning of
essential rights and protections. Nobody voted for Sunak, and nobody
voted for this.
We need
your help. Tell
your MP that you expect them to vote to protect the UK, not to placate
the ERG.
Best wishes,
Cary
