Dear john,
Today, I announced original co-sponsorship for House Resolution 30 to recognize Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s, 94th birthday. The resolution will also recognize the 40th anniversary of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday.
Dr. King was a steward of education, a man of faith, and a civil rights pioneer. I co-sponsored House Resolution 30 to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy and honor his vision of a more free, more equal, and more just American society.
The United States Declaration of Independence proclaims that all men are created equal. Dr. King recognized the true meaning of this belief, and he fought to bring that meaning to fruition. In Congress, I will continue to memorialize Dr. King’s noble ambition to make our world, our country, and ourselves the best we can be.
