Friend --
It's 2020, and it's still constitutional to discriminate on the basis of sex.
We're at a pivotal moment where Virginia could push the entire country forward. Today, the Virginia State House and Senate both passed the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), which guarantees equal protection from discrimination for all people, regardless of sex.
The VA General Assembly just passed the ERA -- now we need to show how many people support making the ERA part of the Constitution.

Lawmakers have been fighting for Constitutional equality since the ERA was first introduced to Congress in 1923. This historic amendment will enshrine equal protections for all Americans in the Constitution and ban discrimination on the basis of sex. Three-quarters of state legislatures must agree to ratify any amendment to our Constitution. Virginia ratifying the ERA brings us closer to our goal -- but the fight isn't finished.
38 states are needed to ratify the ERA -- Virginia is the 38th. Now, we finally have a shot at seeing the ERA become law. Virginia was the tipping point, but there's work still to be done to make the ERA part of our Constitution.
Mark is committed to continuing the fight in the Senate to ensure that everyone has equality under the law. Sign Mark's petition and help us demonstrate strong support for taking the next step to make the ERA part of the Constitution.
