Please give us a moment to explain why you should care about this headline out of Washington and why you should make a donation of $3 or more to Antonio Delgado for Congress before Wednesday’s end-of-month fundraising deadline.
Since we elected Antonio to Congress, extreme special interests have made it clear that they aren’t going to sit on the sidelines and let New York’s 19th Congressional District be represented by someone who doesn’t work for them.
In February, this same Super PAC launched false, misleading attack ads just weeks after Antonio was sworn into Congress.
In March, they officially added Antonio to their list of “targets.”
Now, they’ve raised a record sum of money. If you remember last year’s election, you know exactly what they are going to do with this cash -- they are going to dump almost all of it on nasty TV ads that attempt to lie and mislead voters about Antonio’s record. It’s okay. They can do that. It’s part of the special interest politics as usual playbook.
We’re not going to fund Antonio’s re-election the way they do. As you know, Antonio holds this campaign to a higher standard -- he refuses to accept corporate PAC donations. But that means we have to fund this campaign differently, and it starts with you. That’s why we email you every month asking you to chip in what you can, when you can.
Right now, we need 27 more donations in Washington if we’re going to hit our end-of-month fundraising goal -- will you step up and be one of them?
Your donations -- one by one, little by little -- are going to add up to a whole lot. That’s how we compete with corporate PACs and their six-figure checks from billionaires.
And that’s how we’ll be able to counter their ads, set the record straight, and remind folks that Antonio is working to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, take on climate change, fight for comprehensive immigration reform, and end Citizens United so we can get big outside money out of politics once and for all.
But this strategy only works if grassroots activists step up and help us succeed.
