Jack, this situation is appalling.
The U.S. Treasury just indicated the Nation will reach it's debt limit this Thursday — which means that the House GOP's threats to force a catastrophic debt default as a way to extort cuts to the social programs millions of Americans depend on has taken on a new urgency.
“Failure to meet the government’s obligations would cause irreparable harm to the U.S. economy, the livelihoods of all Americans and global financial stability,” the Treasury Secretary warned in her letter to Congress.
Jack, we're just going to be blunt: the GOP is ready and willing to force irreparable harm to our country's economy — all to "win" a game of political brinksmanship.
