Elect Katie Hobbs

John,

Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

As we take this day to reflect, we must also redouble our efforts to protect and defend the rights Dr. King fought so hard for.

Among those freedoms is our fundamental right to vote. And across the country, that right is under attack.

For years, extremists have attempted to sow distrust in our democratic institutions — questioning the results of election after election simply because they didn’t like the outcome — and pushing dangerous plans and pieces of legislation that would restrict the right to vote. Steps like these would disproportionately impact voters of color, while doing serious harm to our democracy.

Let me be very clear: As Arizona’s 24th Governor, I will stand up to any threat to our civil rights or to our freedom to make our voices heard.

So today, as we take the time to reflect on Dr. King’s work and his impact on our country, I hope you will join me in recommitting to defending our fundamental rights, speaking out in the face of injustices in our state and communities, and being of service to others.

Thank you for all you do.

— Katie
