Are you looking for MLK service events?
Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!
Dr. King’s legacy is rich with lessons of anti-racism, anti-poverty, and anti-imperialism. Alexandria spoke to this while discussing Dr. King at a Faith Leader Breakfast:
“King’s life ended because he was dangerous to some of the core, basic beliefs of injustice upon which this country was founded. If we want to pick up and honor him where he left off, we have to be willing to be dangerous, too. We have to be dangerous to injustice, dangerous to racism, dangerous to white supremacy, dangerous to a logic and a form of late-stage capitalism that says that says the richest in society are more worthy than the poorest.”
Much of MLK, Jr.’s work was centered in community growth and empowerment, so the best way we can think of to honor him is to continue this legacy of community service.
