John,

Today, we remember the important activism and work to which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life.

As Dr. King once said, “History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.”

As we remember the life and legacy of one of our nation's greatest civil rights leaders, we must not forget Dr. King’s message of hope in a time of darkness. Our progress forward is not finished, and together, we can create a nation Dr. King dreamed of.

Sincerely,

Mike Thompson
