On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, help us honor his legacy as champion of the civil rights movement.

Brothers, Sisters, and Siblings,

Today, the Texas AFL-CIO celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day and honors his legacy as a champion of the civil rights movement.

There has long been a powerful partnership between labor unions and the civil rights movement. Dr. King helped forge this relationship through his work, believing deeply that we are stronger when we work together and that all people should be empowered to speak up for better working conditions.

This is why equal rights and freedoms for people of color, both within and outside the workplace, are a core tenet of the 2023 Texas AFL-CIO Fair Shot Legislative Agenda.

We remain committed to the ongoing fight for racial justice – today and every day. Please join us in the fight by pledging to support our agenda to uplift all working people.

Let us take a moment today to reflect on the progress achieved by Dr. King and all those who came before us, and prepare ourselves to continue working toward a better future.

In solidarity,

Team Texas AFL-CIO
