Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day, john!
Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his commitment to justice and equality for all Americans.
This year will mark the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington. This march was led by Dr. King and called for civil and voting rights protections. The work of Dr. King and other activists led to the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and marked a huge step forward in the fight for equity in our nation.
In the decades since this historic march, we've made incredible strides as a nation toward justice and equity. But this change has come slowly and our work is far from over.
As your congresswoman, I'm dedicated to fighting for legislation that gets us closer to Dr. King's vision for America – voting rights protections, anti-discrimination laws, civil rights protections, and more.
I hope you'll join me today in taking time to honor Dr. King's legacy, and vow to continue working towards fulfilling his dream of equal rights for all.
Thank you,
Kim
