Take four actions in 2 minutes No images? Click here ![]() ![]() John, As you know, the 2023 Washington legislative session began on January 9, and we are determined to get our four environmental priorities across the finish line. Two of our priorities, the WRAP Act and the GMA Climate bill, are scheduled to have their first public hearings in the State House and State Senate on Tuesday, January 17. We need your help to advance these priorities — sign in "PRO" for these bills by Tuesday: EPC Priority: WRAP Act Washington’s recycling systems cannot keep up with the influx of plastic and paper packaging flooding into our homes and environment. The Washington Recycling And Packaging (WRAP) Act was introduced to address the growing amount of packaging and fix Washington's inefficient recycling systems. EPC Priority: Planning for a Climate-Friendly Future The climate crisis is accelerating. Counties and cities must keep up by incorporating climate-resiliency measures and reducing emissions equitably in their long-term plans. The Growth Management Act (GMA) climate bill will require local governments to plan for a climate-friendly future. Legislators pay close attention to the quantity of “pro” sign-ins. Please sign in as “PRO” as an individual constituent or as an official representative for an organization. Every action counts. We need to start the session strong and make sure our leaders know that people are demanding action on climate and reform on our recycling systems. Thank you for taking action, Darcy Nonemacher (she/hers) |
