Hi friend,
Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his distinguished life of service.
Dr. King helped lead a movement that pushed our nation forward at a time when speaking out was dangerous. From his “I Have a Dream” speech to the march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, Dr. King tirelessly advocated for an end to racial inequality and segregation.
Despite facing countless barriers and injustices, including threats to his life, his fight for civil rights resulted in countless victories for progress across the country. Today, over 50 years since his death, his work lives on. Dr. King was instrumental in advocating for the Voting Rights Amendment – meaning we honor his legacy every time one of us casts a ballot in an election.
We’ve come a long way from Selma, the Montgomery Bus Boycotts, and the March on Washington – but we still have a long way to go. So, friend, on this special day in which we celebrate the life of Dr. King, let us honor his legacy by committing to continue his work and ensure his dreams are fully realized.
Because as Dr. King once said, the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.
