John — Today, we honor the life and legacy of one of our country’s greatest leaders, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was a model of courage and perseverance in the face of cruel indignity.

As we prepare to return to the legislature to fight to urge our elected leaders to take the bold action we need to protect our communities, we are called to remember that we have faced unthinkable challenges before and emerged as a better, fairer country. It is our responsibility to follow Dr. King’s example and work tirelessly, as he did, for a safer, more just future.
