Urgent: Animals are waiting for help

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Friend,

PETA Asia's rescue team arrived just in time for Palakitik.

The friendly young stray dog had excitedly welcomed its staffers for years as
they arrived to care for hundreds of working horses who ferried tourists up and
down the volcano on the Philippine island of Taal. When the Taal Volcano
violently exploded this past weekend, staffers feared the worst for her.

This morning, PETA Asia became the first animal organization to reach the
devastated island, and when the rescue team members stepped off their boat and
called out to Palakitik, she came running up through the ash, overjoyed to see
friendly faces. After providing her with the only food and clean water she'd
likely had since the eruption, they took her off the island to receive
veterinary care and to sleep safe in the comfort of a soft bed.

Right now, many other animals like her are struggling to survive on an island
buried under inches of ash and debris. Each one is scared, and time is running
out to help them.

Please make an urgently needed gift today and help power PETA Asia's lifesaving
rescue work.

The destruction that PETA Asia rescuers are finding on Taal is heartbreaking.
The island reeks of death, and the steep banks leading up to the volcano are
covered with the bodies of horses, cows, and other animals.

But cowering among the ash are desperate survivors—frightened, hungry animals in
urgent need. PETA Asia's rescue team is doing all that it can to help them,
providing food, fresh water, and basic veterinary care until government
officials let the team evacuate them from the island. They are also helping
animals in an evacuation zone on the mainland that's threatened by the volcano.
The rescuers won't stop until everyone affected by this tragedy is safe—and they
need the resources provided by committed donors if they're to reach them all.

Can you make a much-needed donation right now to help?
