10. Biden Repeats Questionable Claim He Frequented Black Church During Civil Rights Movement
In his remarks celebrating the birthday of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., President Joe Biden repeated the questionable claim that he frequented a Black church during the civil rights movement.
Biden gave a speech at King’s historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta Sunday on what would have been the slain civil rights icon’s 94th birthday. The president opened his remarks by repeating a claim – connecting himself to the civil rights movement – that has been disputed repeatedly in the past.
"Let's lay one thing to rest. I may be a practicing Catholic, but [I] used to go to 7:30 Mass every morning in high school and then in college before I went to the Black church," Biden said. "Not a joke, Andy knows this."

9. Dem Rep. and Aspiring Senator Katie Porter 'Is Rage-Filled Boss Who Racially Abused Staff, Covered Up Sexual Harassment and Fired Worker for Giving Her Covid'
Rep. Katie Porter, who this week announced her candidacy to be one of California's two senators in 2024, has been described as being a 'rage-filled boss' who 'racially abused staff' and covered up sexual harassment.
In addition, Porter has been criticized for firing a staffer, Sasha Georgiades, who is also a veteran and domestic abuse survivor, for giving her Covid-19 in August 2022.
Porter announced her candidacy, despite the fact that longtime California Senator Dianne Feinstein, 89, has not announced her retirement.

8. Did Aliens Land on Earth in 1945? A Defense Bill Seeks Answers
An amendment tucked into this year’s $858 billion National Defense Authorization Act, which funds the Defense Department’s annual operating budget, requires the department to review historical documents related to unidentified aerial phenomena — government lingo for U.F.O.s — dating to 1945. That is the year that, according to one account, a large, avocado-shaped object struck a communication tower in a patch of New Mexico desert now known as the Trinity Site, where the world’s first atomic bomb was detonated that July.
Experts said the bill, which President Biden signed into law in December, could be a game changer for studying unidentified phenomena.

7. New York Moves to Allow Biological Males to be Housed in Women's Prisons
The New York State legislature has reintroduced a piece of legislation brought forth in the previous legislative session that would allow prisoners to be housed according to their self-reported "gender identity," meaning that biological males could "self-ID" their way into women's prisons.
Assembly Bill A709, also called the "gender identity respect, dignity and safety act," states that prisoners who have a gender identity that differs from their birth sex should be allowed to seek accommodations that closely match their gender identity.

"The Squad" member Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., said Thursday she was one of the few House members who voted against a select committee to examine U.S. competition with China for fear it would embolden racists.
Pressley told CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins that she voted against its formation in order to fight back "anti-Asian rhetoric and hate" she claims could be inspired by such a committee.

5. Dozens of Illinois Sheriffs Vow to Defy Governor's Assault Weapons Ban
More than six dozen Illinois sheriffs have vowed to defy a gun-control law signed by Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker that bans semiautomatic rifles.
"Part of my duties that I accepted upon being sworn into office was to protect the rights provided to all of us, in the Constitution," Edwards County Sheriff Darby Boewe said in a Facebook post.
"One of those rights enumerated is the right of the people to KEEP and BEAR ARMS provided under the 2nd Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms for defense of life, liberty and property is regarded as an inalienable right by the people."

The massive bronze piece, titled “The Embrace,” features two sets of arms holding each other, an artistic interpretation of the classic photo of Coretta and hubby Martin Luther King Jr. hugging after he won the Nobel Peace Price in 1964.
“The mainstream media … was reporting on it like it was all beautiful, ’cause they were told they had to say that,” Seneca Scott, Coretta’s cousin, told The Post by phone Sunday, referring to the new artwork in The Boston Commons.
“But then when it came out, a little boy pointed out — ‘That’s a penis!’ and everyone was like, ‘Yo, that’s a big old dong, man,” said the 43-year-old Oakland, Calif., resident.

1. ATF Bans Millions of Current Guns With New Pistol Brace Rule
Millions of Americans face the threat of federal felony charges over guns they purchased legally thanks to a new rule released by the ATF.
The agency announced plans to publish the final version of their rule reclassifying pistol braces, a popular firearm accessory, on Friday. The rule, which President Joe Biden requested as part of his efforts to unilaterally reform gun laws, would effectively ban the use of braces unless registered with the ATF. Anyone who does not comply with the rule could be subject to upwards of ten years in federal prison despite the agency previously ruling the braces were legal multiple times over the past decade.
