Dear John,
This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the American Immigration Council hopes to honor Dr. King’s legacy by encouraging everyone to build bridges across our differences.
One easy way to connect with others is through common interests—whether sharing a cultural tradition or a simple pastime. By reaching out in this way, we can create more welcoming communities where everyone feels like they belong.
In partnership with the Ad Council and Upworthy, the Council’s Belonging Begins with Us Campaign is sharing two stories of people who have come together to welcome newcomers, and most importantly, uplift a shared sense of humanity.

From Myanmar to Arkansas and Brazil to Utah, we see how supporting one another across differences can build community and belonging.
We hope you have a restful and reflective MLK Day.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Robbins
Executive Director
