Women's rights are at risk in Parliament this week
Will you stand with Fawcett to protect so much of what we, and so many women across Britain, hold dear—equal pay for equal work, fair parental leave provisions, and so much more?
This Wednesday, Parliament will vote on the EU Retained Law Bill: a piece of legislation that will delete as many as 4000 laws based on being part of the European Union, and allow Ministers and civil servants—not Parliament—to determine whether they are replaced or revoked completely.
The breadth of this bill is so enormous that even the Government doesn't yet know which laws will be affected. But one thing is for sure: this approach means we risk seeing crucial, hard-won protections around women's rights vanish overnight.
A Cross Party Amendment tabled this week by Stella Creasy and David Davis will require the Government to list all the laws they wish to take control of so that there is transparency. Ahead of the vote on Wednesday we’re joining with other charities and campaign groups to ask MPs to add their name to the amendment and ensure that these important protections don’t simply vanish overnight, and to urge the Government to rethink this approach. We need you to write to your MP to ask them to intervene before it's too late.
Will you join us?
