John,
Today, we remember and celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Nearly 60 years ago, the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom brought hundreds of thousands to D.C. demanding civil and economic rights for Black Americans. Now, Philadelphia is home to the largest MLK Day event in the country.
For the past 27 years, our community has joined together from around the region to give back and celebrate Dr. King's legacy. And this year’s theme focuses on gun violence prevention, health disparities, economic justice, voting rights, and education equity.
You can learn about more opportunities and sign up to volunteer here.
I hope you’ll join me today in remembering Dr. King and honoring his fight by taking action today. In the spirit of Dr. King’s legacy, I remain committed to fighting for social and economic justice for all Americans. I will continue to stand on the front lines, constantly advocating for a safer, more just, and stronger Philadelphia.
In solidarity,
Dwight
