Additional Classified Documents Found in Biden’s Possession, House Judiciary Committee Opens Investigation
Townhall: Biden’s “garage-gate” scandal keeps growing as it turns out even more documents were found at President Biden’s private residence earlier this week, but their existence was only disclosed on Saturday morning. On Thursday afternoon, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre — who has insisted she’s being truthful with the American people and transparent about what she and the White House knows — told Americans that the search for classified documents in Biden’s possession was “complete” and Biden was “confident” in the process ( Townhall). NBC: The House Judiciary Committee announced Friday it’s opened an investigation into the Obama-era classified documents that were found in President Joe Biden’s Delaware home and his former Washington office. The panel, headed by Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, has sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland demanding all documents and communications between the Justice Department, FBI, and the White House about the discovery ( NBC).

Christian Colleges Win in Court Where Title IX Threatened to Remove Funding
WNG: Christian colleges won a major victory in court this week when a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit that threatened the schools’ federal funding. In April 2021, a group of LGBT students sued the U.S. Department of Education for exempting the Christian colleges from nondiscrimination rules. The lawsuit included personal statements from students at universities such as Baylor University. The students described how colleges disciplined or expelled them for not abiding by standards for Biblical sexuality—standards rooted in the schools’ religious beliefs ( WNG). Christian Post: Title IX of the Civil Rights Act forbids sex-based discrimination in education, but colleges upholding traditional definitions for marriage and sexuality can request exemptions that allow them to adhere to scriptural beliefs on matters of sexuality ( Christian Post).

Supreme Court to Revisit Racial Preferences in College Admissions
Wall Street Journal: The Supreme Court is revisiting the issue of racial preferences in higher education. The last time it did so, in 2016, it upheld them by a 4-3 vote. All three dissenters are still on the court, along with three new conservative colleagues. In this term’s cases, involving Harvard and the University of North Carolina, Students for Fair Admissions asks the justices to hold that racial preferences violate Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and, when practiced by public institutions, the 14th Amendment. The common expectation is that they will do so and definitively overturn 45 years of precedent permitting colleges and universities to discriminate in the interest of achieving “the educational benefits of a diverse student body” ( Wall Street Journal).

Iraqi PM Defends US Troop Presence in Country
Wall Street Journal: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani defended the presence of U.S. troops in his country and set no timetable for their withdrawal, signaling a less confrontational posture toward Washington early in his term than his Iran-backed political allies have taken. Until now, Mr. Sudani has been publicly silent about his views on keeping U.S. forces in Iraq, saying only that he would consult Iraqi commanders. Some pro-Iranian militia leaders and Mr. Sudani’s supporters in Parliament are pressing him to reconsider the U.S. presence. That has left Biden administration officials unsure about the future of around 2,000 American troops in Iraq and a separate multinational training force under NATO command ( Wall Street Journal).

National Review: Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom, a native of Turkey, is on the country’s most-wanted-terrorist list for his comments about the government’s human-rights abuses. Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government is offering up to 10 million Turkish lira, or about $500,000, for information leading to his capture, Freedom told the New York Post. Freedom is a longtime critic of Erdogan, calling him a “dictator” and the “Hitler of our century.” Freedom expressed support for the coup attempt against Erdogan in 2016 and was later banned from the country as a result ( National Review).
