Dear John,

This week in Washington, I voted against two extreme bills, one that would further restrict abortion rights and another that makes it easier for the wealthy and well-connected to cheat on their taxes.

Anyone who files taxes knows the system is seriously broken, understaffed and unfair. Throughout my time in Congress, I have heard from many constituents who have been waiting for their tax refunds – often, they’re owed thousands of dollars. That’s why I’m fighting to make the tax code fairer for individuals and small businesses and make sure billionaires and big corporations pay their fair share.

A centerpiece of the new Republican majority’s plans for the next two years is to criminalize abortion nationwide with no exceptions. A woman’s health care decisions are her own. That’s why I am fighting for legislation that once again makes Roe v. Wade the law of the land.
