John,

In a surprise announcement, trailblazer Senator Debbie Stabenow of Michigan, in Leadership in the Democratic caucus, will be retiring. She was the first woman elected to the Senate from Michigan when she first won the seat in 2000.

Stabenow was a shoe-in for reelection. But, now that she's stepping aside, it'll be one of the most competitive races Republicans are guaranteed to target.

To continue Stabenow's legacy, protect all we hold dear and elect a great progressive, we must start now. Republicans sure are. Can you join us in giving $5, $10, $25 or whatever you can to send the talented, progressive & honest Rep. Slotkin to the U.S. Senate?

One of the first names to be mentioned was Elissa Slotkin. Rep. Slotkin's a terrific candidateone of a group of women with national security credentials elected to the House in swing seats in 2018 (also Reps Sherrill (NJ), Spanberger (VA) and Luria (VA)). As described aptly by the AP, Slotkin is perfect for this race because she is "a Congresswoman...coming off a decisive victory in November in one of the country's most competiitive House districtes." She. Will. Win.

Slotkin is also a member of the House Pro-Choice Caucus, voted for an assault weapons ban, fought to keep ACA protections for pre-existing conditions and allow Medicare to bulk negotiate lower drug prices. She also has a background also as a CIA Analyst and in the Defense Department, a perfect, well-rounded resume for a U.S.Senator.

To continue Stabenow's legacy, protect all we hold dear and elect a great progressive, we must start now. Republicans sure are. Can you join us in giving $5, $10, $25 or whatever you can to send the talented, progressive & honest Rep. Slotkin to the U.S. Senate?

Thank you for fighting to keep the Senate!

Cliff

About BlueAmp Action:

We cannot sugarcoat the current situation. Right-wing authoritarianism, defeated by a worldwide coalition during WWII, was only in hibernation. Over the past decade it has infected democratic societies--including ours. It is as simple as it is terrifying: What we do now will define the future of our country and world.

We at Blue Amp Action are dedicated to liberal, open societies, where reason and science are applied to solve our problems; where civil rights--including voting rights!--are protected for all. We fight for these values every day. Speaking up on our platforms, raising the voices and the political prospects of liberal pols and pundits.

And savvy grassroots activists like you know, just like we do, that we can’t stop watching the people we help elect: after the elections, we have to keep organizing support for the policies we like and pushing back against the ones we don’t.

When the public tunes out between elections and the only people our elected officials hear from are the paid lobbyists of wealthy corporations, our government stops being accountable to the needs of ordinary families.

Democracy never sleeps, and neither can we.

So we ask that you support our work, so we can continue to engage in this fight every moment of every day. So our kids grow up in democracy, not dystopia.

Thank you for your support for all we do! Please follow Cliff Schecter on Twitter @cliffschecter, or subscribe to The Takedown with Cliff Schecter on YouTube, to keep up to date with this battle for the heart and soul of our country.
