The real life-or-death impact of the Republican’s obsessive attacks on the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
John,
This morning, Team Cori is in Los Angeles. As I wait for her to take the stage to deliver the event’s keynote speech, I wanted to share her message for this group with her grassroots supporters, first.
Cori is going to call out the real life-or-death impact of the Republican’s obsessive attacks on the LGBTQIA2S+ community through legislation that attempts to criminalize vulnerable students, parents, health care providers, and members of the Trans community.
She’ll explain how when the GOP couldn’t get certain bills passed in Congress, they focused on fear-mongering ballot initiatives — seeking to dismantle our rights one state at a time.
And, she’ll outline the harsh reality of the success of their hate-fueled campaigns:
- Violence: LGBTQIA2S2S+ people are 4 times more likely than non-LGBTQIA2S+ people to experience violent victimization. Over 40% of LGBTQIA2S+ adults have been physically or sexually assaulted, or have had money or possessions stolen.
- Abuse and discrimination is prevalent: More than half of LGBTQIA2S+ people have experienced threats of violence, and 75% have been verbally insulted or abused. Community members are much more likely to experience hate crimes than non-LGBTQIA2S+ people. Nearly half of LGBTQIA2S+ workers have experienced mistreatment in the workplace based on their identity. Black, Brown, and Indigenous LGBTQIA2S+ people and transgender people have experienced particularly high rates of workplace discrimination and harassment.
- Housing insecurity disproportionately impacts the LGBTQIA2S+ community: Rates of homelessness among LGBTQIA2S+ adults are 8 times higher than cisgender, heterosexual adults. This community is twice as likely as the general population to experience homelessness in their lifetime.
These are topics you’ve heard Cori address before on the floor of Congress, during campaign events, and in her community. She’ll never back down on protecting our rights. Today, please help us continue to build a strong movement for LGBTQIA2S+ rights by making a contribution of $5.

After outlining these issues, Cori will share with the audience what can be done to combat hate and help LGBTQIA2S+ community, including policies Cori is advancing in Congress like: eviction relief, passing The Unhoused Bill of Rights, and ending the racist, homophobic, and transphobic discriminatory housing policies and practices in place at the city, state, and national level.
Your support can help make these goals a reality. Help us spread the word about the issues and Cori’s proposed solutions with a contribution of $5 today.
Looking forward to sharing more about this even with you soon, John. I’ll be sure to get a few photos for you!
In Solidarity,
