Here we go again.
Last night during the Democratic debate, CNN asked one of the most loaded
questions we’ve seen this election cycle: “Does Bernie Sanders owe an
explanation of how much his health care plan would cost voters?”
This is beyond absurd. America spends more on our broken health care
system than any other country in the world. Yet with all that spending,
tens of millions are still stranded without care while the CEOs rake in
billions in profits.
Where is their explanation? Where is the scrutiny around the crimes
they’ve committed; of the looting and pillaging they’ve done to the
American people?
These disingenuous attacks against Medicare for All aren’t new. We expect
them. But last night’s debate proved that the attacks are only going to
get worse from here on, which is why we need to fight back, right now:

Just to put all of this into perspective, let’s take a look at all the
things our country has deemed more important than providing health care to
327 million Americans:
* $6.4 trillion spent on the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and
Pakistan since 2001.
* $716 billion approved just last year on a defense appropriations
bill.
* $1.5 trillion on Donald Trump’s tax cut — 83% of which went to the top
1%.
* $6.2 billion in subsidies to Wal-Mart alone, whose owners are worth
$500 billion and whose workers only make $11 an hour.
This list barely scratches the surface. But what’s abundantly clear is
that the pharmaceutical CEOs and health insurance giants are popping
champagne bottles to celebrate these bad-faith attacks against Medicare
for All.
But no matter how much influence they peddle and money they spend, we can
AND WILL out-organize them. We can overcome their lobbying on the ground.
[ [link removed] ]Which is why I’m asking you to join our movement tonight.
Thank you for everything. We couldn’t do any of this work without
your support.
In solidarity,
Phil Kim
