It’s been nearly two weeks since President Trump recklessly brought us to the brink of war with Iran. Since then he has failed to provide a shred of evidence of an imminent threat to justify that use of force. And he continues to make contradictory and logic-defying claims – both on Twitter and at his rallies – that put our nation at greater risk.
Just like when he illegally attempted to bribe Ukraine's president for political dirt, President Trump continues to show absolutely no regard for the well-being of the American people – only his own selfish agenda.
Instead of holding Trump accountable for his dangerous and criminal abuses of power, Mitch McConnell has promised to coordinate with the White House during the Senate impeachment proceedings, allowing the President to dictate his own trial. I will be fighting tirelessly to bring President Trump to justice, but at this critical moment for our democracy it’s never been more important for me to hear where you stand.
President Trump has proven time and again that he will throw our very democracy under the bus to serve his own selfish interests. Mitch McConnell and Trump’s other political enablers have done nothing to hold him accountable.
During this solemn historic moment, we have the responsibility to put country over party – to put facts and our Constitution over the relentless lies and corruption of this President. And the majority of Americans agree, calling for a real trial that includes all relevant documents and witness testimonies instead of the sham trial McConnell is trying to pull off.
