When I announced I was going to challenge a Mitch McConnell-backed incumbent to represent Alaska in the Senate, I was constantly asked why I was running. I want to take a moment to share my motivations with you.

As a doctor, it's my duty to, above all, do no harm. I worked hard to dedicate my career to helping others. But as I became more involved in our state and its healthcare system, it became clear that we were allowing our representation in Washington to do far too much harm to Alaska.

Our economy is not living up to its potential, and for the 3rd year in a row, migration has resulted in population decline. Pharmaceutical companies are jacking up drug prices. And our country's healthcare system is so broken it effectively costs each American family $8,000 a year.

I looked around at all this harm and knew I had to do all I could to help heal our state -- and that means taking on Dan Sullivan to stand up for Alaskans all the way in Washington.
