We have good news and bad news, team.

First, the bad news: Attacks on voting rights are escalating.

After the 2020 election, more than a dozen states passed new voter suppression laws. Then, the Supreme Court continued putting key provisions of the Voting Rights Act in jeopardy. Now, more states are considering passing restrictions on voting in 2023. And, with the power of the House majority, Republicans can work to undermine voting rights at the national level as well.

Now, the good news: The NDRC is fighting back – and we’re getting results!

Our grassroots movement helped Democrats win key governors’ and new state legislative majorities in 2022. Now, Democrats in states like Michigan are planning to use their power to expand access to voting!

But that’s not all. The NDRC is also continuing to support plaintiffs in lawsuits, support independent state courts, elect pro-democracy candidates, and end map manipulation that allows politicians to pick their voters instead of the other way around.
