Lesko Applauds Republicans' Successful Week in the U.S. House
It has been a record first week for House Republicans! With the new majority, we are delivering on our Commitment to America. We passed historic legislation to repeal the funding for President Biden’s 87,000 IRS agents, protect the fundamental right to life, stand up to Communist China, and promote our energy security. I was pleased to cosponsor and vote for these important measures in the House. I will continue to combat the Biden Administration’s failed agenda and deliver real results for Arizonans.

Lesko Supports Important Oversight Committees
This week, House Republicans accomplished two major wins for the American people. We voted for, and I supported, the creation of a Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, as well as a Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.
The Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will empower House Republicans to combat China. For far too long, America has failed to stand up to China, but no more. This committee will address China as a national security threat and strategic rival and restore America’s competitiveness!
As for the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, this committee will strengthen House Republicans’ ability to hold the Biden Administration accountable for its attacks on the constitutional rights of everyday Americans. This administration has openly weaponized agencies like the FBI and DOJ against its political opponents and they must be stopped. House Republicans are committed to stopping these woke institutions and reestablishing transparency within our government. Accountability is coming in the 118th Congress!

Lesko Protects Emergency Oil Reserve from Communist China
Thanks to the Biden Administration, oil from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve is now in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party. I was proud to vote for critical legislation to ensure our emergency oil supply is not sold off to our enemies. Watch my remarks on the House Floor below:

Lesko Supports American Energy
It was great to join my Republican colleagues on the House Energy and Commerce Committee for a roundtable! House Republicans are prioritizing bringing down the price of gas and lowering energy costs for the American people. Watch my remarks below:

Lesko Votes to Protect Babies Born Alive from Attempted Abortions
This week, I was proud to cosponsor and vote for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which provides lifesaving care to babies who survive attempted abortions. With the passage of this bill, House Republicans have proven that we care about the lives of innocent children. I simply do not understand why 210 of my Democrat colleagues voted against this bill. It is unclear why anyone would want a baby to be left for dead that was born alive.

Lesko Congratulates Rep. Ciscomani on Appropriations Appointment
I want to congratulate my Arizona colleague, Congressman Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ-06), for winning a position on the powerful House Appropriations Committee. As a member of the Republican Steering Committee, I was honored to nominate and support Juan, and I am very excited that he was the only Republican freshman member to be seated on the committee. In this position, Juan will be able to advocate for his community and all of Arizona.

GET THE FACTS: House Republicans' Rules for the 118th Congress
This week in the U.S. House of Representatives, we voted on the rules of the House for the 118th Congress. Conservatives won major victories to improve transparency and fiscal responsibility in Congress. House Republicans passed important rules to curb out-of-control spending, including rules to prohibit legislation that increases mandatory spending within a five-year or 10-year budget window, ensure that every general appropriations bill includes a spending reduction account section, and require a 60% supermajority vote on any tax rate increases. We also have provisions to improve transparency in Congress by requiring that bills be focused on a single subject. With these important changes, House Republicans are working to deliver on our commitments to curbing the wasteful spending and creating a government that is accountable to the American people.
