Dear John,
It was a busy week in Washington, but I’m back to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting for our conservative values.
We did it! Our conference came together this week and voted to defund the $80 billion that the Democrats gave to supersize the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Our party is unified and sticking together, delivering results for the American people.
When the American people elected a Republican majority, they elected a pro-life majority. I am proud to say we are delivering on protecting our most vulnerable. This week, I presided over the House when we voted on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which mandates that attending doctors follow their oath and protect babies in the case of a failed abortion. Our conference will take a profound stand on preserving America’s pro-life values.
I am pleased to announce that I have been appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee. This committee has ownership of all tax and revenue-related matters, making it one of the most consequential in Congress. I hope to remain on the Rules Committee. From the battle over the stepped-up basis to the Democrats' wish to increase taxes on pass-through entities, I will be a voice for rural Minnesota and ensure that our economy remains competitive on the world stage.
As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can help with. Thank you for your continued support!
